HSBC’s Gozo Service Centre at the Xewkija Industrial Estate was officially inaugurated yesterday by Investment, Industry and Information Technology Minister Austin Gatt, Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono and HSBC Chief Executive Officer Shaun Wallis. The new centre will be employing 50 full-time workers.
The service centre’s main role will be to take care of the bank’s back office work and also serve as a call centre for outgoing calls from HSBC Malta. It is expected to have annual recurrent operational costs of around 1.2 million euros.
The new centre is housed in what was previously a disused factory in the Xewkija industrial Estate, which has now been revamped with an 800,000 euro investment.
The Gozo Service Centre is managed by Ray Cassar and has been operational since early this month. HSBC Malta Chairman Albert Mizzi and HSBC’s Chief Operating Officer Sally Robson, as well as Gozo Bishop Mario Grech were also present for the official inauguration ceremony.
