On Saturday the 22nd of March, Bishop Mario Grech will lead the faithful in prayer at Ta’ Pinu National Shrine, as the Church awaits the resurrection of her Bridegroom, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Holy Saturday is a day of silence and prayer which commemorates the dead Christ in the tomb. No Mass is celebrated. The faithful are encouraged to vigil in prayer as the Church prepares to celebrated the Liturgy of the Resurrection during Easter Vigil on Saturday night.
In the footsteps of Mary, Mother of God and of the Church, who accompanied her Son Jesus through his passion and death, the Church vigils at the tomb of Jesus, faithfully awaiting the fulfilment of the Lord’s promise: that He will be raised on the third day (Matthew 16,21).
The Marian celebration of the Word of God will commence at 9am.
