‘Help Dar Tal-Providenza’ campaign launched

DartalProvidenza.jpgEvery purchase transaction using BOV Cashlink Cards between the 1st and the 31st August will result in an automatic 3 cents donation (7 euro cents) by Bank of Valletta to Dar tal-Providenza thanks to a new campaign. The Bank of Valletta 'Cashlink Cards for Charity' campaign 2007, was launched by Charles Borg, Executive Head at the CEO's Office at Bank of Valletta and Mgr. Lawrence Gatt, the Director of Dar tal-Providenza. During the launch Mr Borg explained that through this campaign there is the potential to raise thousands of liri in aid of Dar tal-Providenza. The amount raised all depends on how much the people use their Cashlink Cards to effect payments. "This initiative will not involve any additional costs to the customer or to the merchant since the contribution will be made by Bank of Valletta, through its Community Programme, in recognition of the valuable contribution Dar tal-Providenza is making within the Maltese Community," said Mr. Borg. "However, the more people use their Cashlink to pay, the higher will be the global donation that the Bank will present to Dar tal-Providenza at the end of this campaign," added Mr. Borg. Charles Borg said that this is the third consecutive year that Bank of Valletta is organizing the Cashlink Cards for Charity Campaign during August. "In 2005 the beneficiary was the Eden Foundation whilst last year the funds we donated under this campaign went to Caritas. This year we are pleased to be supporting Dar tal-Providenza which plays such an important social role within the Maltese society," said Mr. Borg. He added, "We feel that this campaign provides our customers with an added incentive to use such a straight-forward and efficient method of payment. Through this incentive all parties stand to gain since customers enjoy the convenience of the BOV Cards whilst 'Dar tal-Providenza' benefits from the resulting donation. This initiative also underlines the Bank's strong involvement within the Maltese society. It stems from our resolve to support worthy social initiatives as outlined in the social dimension of our Community Programme," concluded Mr Borg. Mgr. Gatt outlined how Carers at the Dar tal-Providenza strive to improve the quality of life for persons born with impairments, both mental and physical, whilst relieving the strain borne by their respective families. He went on to describe how the organisation depends heavily on fund raising initiatives, such as the 'BOV Cashlink for Charity' campaign, to be able to provide the highest possible levels of service to those who make use of the organisation's services. Further information regarding the 'BOV Cashlink for Charity' may be obtained from the Bank's website www.bov.com..., or by sending an email on customercare@bov.com... or by calling the Bank's Customer Service Centre on 2131 2020 between Mondays and Saturdays, from 8.00am to 8.00pm (excluding Bank and Public Holidays).
