Government Health Centres will start administering the vaccine against seasonal influenza as from this coming Monday, October the 22nd. The Victoria Health Centre will be providing the vaccine between the hours of 8am and noon, Monday to Friday, other vaccinations will only be given until 10.30am, from Monday to Saturday.
The vaccine, which is suitable for anyone aged over six months, is offered free of charge to persons aged 55 years and over, employees in the Health Division who come in direct contact with patients, persons living in institutions, persons suffering from diabetes and persons with a disability. The vaccine is also offered free of charge to persons with chronic pulmonary diseases, chronic diseases of the heart, liver or kidneys, and persons suffering from HIV and AIDS.
The public is being urged to cooperate by respecting the specified times and presenting their ID card when attending the health centre. Persons suffering from chronic diseases are also requested to present a medical certificate as proof of their condition.
