The Gozo Tourism Association (GTA) said that it is very satisfied with the busy weekend experienced by Gozitan tourist establishments during the Carnival weekend. Full capacity was reported at all hotels, whilst farmhouses and self-catering establishments registered heavy trade. Restaurants also reported good trade, especially on Saturday and on Sunday throughout the day, after which the majority of the visitors started to return home.
"Carnival in Gozo and especially the one organised in Nadur is providing domestic guests with another reason to cross over to Gozo in their thousands," the GTA said, adding that the positive Carnival experience confirms that Gozo remains an appealing destination during the winter months for the domestic market, especially when attractions are organised in Gozo.
The GTA also praised Gozo Channel for its efforts to meet the heavy demand, as a large number of vehicles and commuters made use of the ferries to cross between the islands.
