A 23-year-old man from Victoria, together with his passenger, a 19-year-old girl from Xaghra, had a very lucky escape after their vehicle hit a wall and plunged approximately two storeys as it approached Xaghra. The accident occurred in the early hours of New Years day.
Members of the Civil Protection Department were immediately called to rescue the couple from the badly damaged vehicle.
The couple were taken by ambulance to the Gozo General Hospital were they were certified as not being in any danger of losing their life.
Police investigations are still continuing.
