GO signs deal with Football Association for exclusive TV rights

FA_Logos.JPGGO has signed a deal with the Football Association through which it has secured rights for live and exclusive broadcast for the next four seasons on TV, mobile and broadband of the FA Cup, all home England matches of both senior and under-21 national teams, as well as the Community Shield.

“This is great news for football fans in Malta. All GO Plus TV customers can follow a good number of English football matches, both at the level of club teams as well at the level of national teams. This addition to our sports line-up is the latest of a series of content acquisitions which took place lately, and which includes also rights for several top level rugby matches. GO Plus is fast becoming the choice of many who want affordable television with a variety of content including sports,” said David Kay, Chief Executive Officer of GO.

GO has secured the rights for the FA Cup, Community Shield, England senior national team (home matches) and England under-21 national team (home matches) for the period 2008 till 2012 (both years inclusive).

The FA Cup, now in its 127th year, is quite simply the world’s best loved domestic cup competition with an illustrious history and a positive future. The FA Cup deal will include up to 236 live match selections during the Term, with a maximum of 59 Live matches per season. The final of the FA Cup is played in the legendary Wembley Stadium.

The deal signed between GO and the FA covers also all home matches of the English national team, including the qualifiers for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and subsequent tournaments.
