Bank of Valletta is supporting an art exhibition by a group of primary school teachers. The exhibition, which features 14 artists, is being held at Sir Robert Sammut Hall in Floriana and will run between the 4th April and the 18th April 2008.
The Bank's sponsorship was presented by Joyce Tabone, Manager, Quality and CSR at Bank of Valletta to Joanne Fenech Portelli, organiser of the exhibition, in the presence of two of the participating artists, Donald Camilleri and Joyce Borg.
Ms Portelli thanked Bank of Valletta for its support and said, "Art teachers are a very important resource in our schools because they are also artists in their own right who can help youngsters find the creativity inside them and express it artistically. All this is very important, as it is in the expression of art that a child tries to develop an ability to relate ideas which are creative and personal."
Through art, teachers can motivate children and help grow and develop their emotional, intellectual and perceptual powers in a creative way. This is done by catering for the children's sensitivity and needs in creating art experiences which include a variety of textures, colours, shapes and forms.
The artists participating in the exhibition are Joanne Fenech Portelli, Donald Camilleri, Joyce Borg, Victor Pulis, Angelique Attard, Joseph Sant, Ruth Borg Galea, Joseph Camilleri, Anabel Cordina, Andrew Borg, Bernard Attard, Victor Agius, Charles Micallef and Saviour Chetcuti.
