Following a high speed chase, four men were apprehended yesterday morning whilst hunting illegally at sea some 23 nautical miles off Marsalforn by AFM Maritime Squadron personnel on patrol.
The men, onboard a 150 horsepower speedboat, initially fled away from the scene when spotted by the AFM?s boat.
Once intercepted, the AFM personnel from the 2nd Regiment?s Rapid Deployment Team found a number of shotguns and a harpoon, varied ammunition in containers, some of illegal calibre, CD-playing equipment with bird calls, and other hunting related equipment.
The seized speedboat has been kept at the Haywharf base, the four men aged between 21 and 31 years and the confiscated hunting equipment were handed over to Police ALE members for further investigation.
