The Federation of Young European Greens said on Sunday that it opposes the development of large tracts of land in Ta’ Cenc due to the harm that this could cause to the flora and fauna that inhabit the Ta’ Cenc garigue including species that can only be found in this area.

Ska Keller, Spokesperson for FYEG said that this project will continue reducing the little natural landscape left for the Maltese. She said that the pressure from the mass tourism market has already spoiled too much of the Maltese coastline.
John Michael Mizzi, the Gozitan candidate for the local elections in Sannat on behalf of Alternattiva Demokratika said that Ta’ Cenc was a sacred place for our ancestors and will remain so for us since it s one of the most amazing places in the Mediterranean basin.
He said that he is very interested to know what the tourism, culture and environmental ministers have to say about this proposed development. He also said that he cannot understand how anyone can even considerate desecrating this holy place.
Ernest Urtasan, Spokesperson for FYEG said that they are worried about Europe’s future environment. He said that massive construction in areas around the Maltese and Spanish coasts should be stopped since future generations have the right to live in good environmental conditions. He said that the young greens are specially worried about projects such as the one being proposed at Ta’ Cenc.
