The Diocesan Commission for the Family yesterday said it believed that society, along with the Church, should collaborate to give direction and serve the family better.
It was within the family that true education started in favour of the protection of life in all its stages.
Life was a gift from God and, therefore, it should be appreciated and treasured, the Commission said in a message to mark Pro-Life Day tomorrow.
It is not possible to celebrate life without condemning and working against abuses that threaten the values of life and the family, according to the commission.
Among these were sexual abuse which was leading to unwanted and often unacceptable pregnancies; abuse of alcohol, drugs and tobacco by minors; carelessness and unnecessary risks at places of work and dangerous driving and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the commission said.
