Mr Joseph Farrugia, Manager EU Programmes Info Unit, is currently holding meetings with representatives of various NGOs and Local Councils, in order to explain the function of the EUPIU, which was recently set-up within the Ministry for Gozo.
One of these meetings was held with members of Din l-Art Helwa at the NGO Centre in Xewkija. So far, this office has had meetings with eleven Local Councils and a number of other NGOs.
The EU Programmes Information Unit (EUPIU), aims to provide entities and individuals in Gozo with an added tool which will increase awareness and better, more effective assistance with regards to EU fund sourcing, in order to ensure maximum utilisation of the opportunities presented through appropriate funding programmes, relative to the island's particular needs.
Mr Farrugia outlined the programmes intention of selecting appropriate funding schemes, which are more relevant to Gozitan entities, from among more than 350 European Funding Programmes available through EC Community grants, addressed at various socio-economic sectors.
