The Employment and Training Corporation (ETC) has launched a register for persons seeking employment on a part-time basis. The part-time register was launched during a seminar for employers held by the ETC.
There are currently around 20,000 persons who have a part-time job in Malta and Gozo, while full-time employees amount to around 140,000. There are also approximately 25,000 persons who have both a full-time and a part-time job.
The rate of part-time employment in Malta stands at 10 per cent, whilst the EU average is 19 per cent. On a gender basis, 4.8 per cent of Maltese men have a part-time job whilst 21.8 per cent of women are in part-time employment, the EU averages are 7.7 per cent and 32.7 per cent respectively.
