The Employment and Training Corporation is concluding its traineeship project through which persons looking for a career in ICT gained work experience while studying at the same time.
This European Social Fund (ESF) partially funded project was designed to address the demand and supply of e-skills through traineeships in ICT. The amount of €76,200 was allocated for this initiative. Nine participants were trained in IADCS, digital art packages such as Photoshop, Power Point and 3D Studio Max, Enterprise Networking, CCNA and Asp.Net....
Traineeships help participants to gain work experience while also acquiring knowledge. ETC helps companies who recruit trainees, by reimbursing 40% of the minimum wage for the duration of the traineeship. The timeframe of a traineeship ranges from 13 to 35 weeks. Nine local companies operating in the field of ICT recruited trainees as part of this project, thus providing the necessary work experience. The theoretical component was provided by different training services providers.
To conclude this project, the ETC will be holding a seminar with the participation of local ICT companies, with a view to an improved understanding of the needs and requirements of the ICT sector in Malta.
The seminar will be held on Friday the 12th of September at Le Meridien Hotel and Spa in St. Julian's from 8.00am till 1.00pm. Early booking for the seminar is encouraged. Bookings can be made with Ingrid Vella by email at ingrid.e.vella@gov.mt or by phone on 2124 5778 / 9.
