Entertainment activities for children will be held at Pjazza Sabina in Victora, Gozo, during Lejlet Lapsi Notte Gozitana on Saturday 19th May.
As from 6.00pm there will be a pre-show in the square consisting of various interactivities and talent performances by young Gozitan children. This will be followed by Ronald McDonalds' show on the main stage. The theatrical group Curtain Raiser will present Once Upon a Toy at 8.30pm. The Children's area is being supported by McDonalds.
The original musical Once upon a Toy, written by Patrick Vella of Curtain Raiser Theatre Troupe is a very imaginative musical with its use of gadgets, different skills and talents. It is a story based inside a toyshop where the audience, who also become a part of the show, can see the toys come to life. The toys are somewhat disturbed by what the toy fairy has to tell them about a witch named Hitch who plans to toy nap all the toys.
Patrick Vella, together with his cast and crew, never cease to amaze the public with their creativity, especially when they have children in mind as their target audience. They will be transforming Sabina Square into a children's wonderland, with colours all around and a set which will transform you into another place of wonder.
The toy shop itself, which will be most of the stage area, will be full of traditional toys and the toys which are moveable toys, such as the toy train, the teddy bear, the toy soldier, the robot, the toy fairy together with Jack in the box, are all actors, who will also be accompanied by professional made hand puppets -the puppets were custom-made in the US. Apart from having live singing, choreography and a live trio musical troupe playing the original music composed by Dominic Galea, Once Upon A Toy is certainly showcasing Curtain Raiser talents and efforts. The performance ends at 10.30pm.
These activities are being held as part of Lejlet Lapsi Notte Gozitana at Victoria, organised by the Ministry for Gozo and the Ministry for Tourism and Culture, sponsored by the National Lotteries Good Causes Fund - Ministry of Finance, Bank of Valletta, Air Malta and Gozo Channel Company Limited and supported by the Victoria Local Council, the Malta Tourism Authority, the Gozo Tourism Association and BPC.
