Nature Trust (Malta) has noted with pleasure the statements made by both the PN and MLP with regards to animal welfare during the visit of the Ekoskola students event held last Wednesday, the 21st of November, where the Ekoskola Participants presented the political parties with the memorandum with suggestions for their respective electoral campaign.
Both the PN and MLP leaders focused on the issue of animal welfare and gave this topic a high priority in their statements. NTM feels that such statements augurs well and hopes that the two major parties will keep up this drive in their electoral campaign thus ensuring that animal welfare will be placed as a priority for the next government.
It urges the other parties to also focus on this issue and give it a high profile In their electoral programmes.
It is essential that Animal Welfare be taken seriously. Too many stories have been reported in the recent past on animal cruelty and illegal activities involving animals. It is time that as a country we pass from words to deeds.
NTM would like to thank again the party leaders - MLP, PN and AD, who have so far included environmental issues in the electoral campaign and for accepting to meet with the EkosSkola participants. This meeting meant so much to the children who have been working so hard in their schools towards this event
Nature Trust (Malta) is the national representative of the International organisation - Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and is running in Malta the Green Flag Programme under the name of EkoSkola, Blue Flag for beaches and Young Reporters for the Environment as FEE Malta.
