Gozo police are still trying to establish the identity of a man who drowned at Marsalforn Bay last Wednesday.
They are working on the theory that the victim was a Sudanese living in Gozo. It is believed that the man could be an illegal immigrant who escaped from detention in Safi in 2005.
Samples have been taken from the body to compare with DNA obtained from medical records that are kept at the Safi detention centre, the results of this comparison are still being awaited.
