Dr Lawrence Gonzi is to be sworn in as Prime Minister at 4.00pm this afternoon. Following the the swearing in ceremony at the President’s Palace, he will go his office at the Castille and then on to the Nationalist Party mass meeting at the Granaries in Floriana at 6.00pm.
With the counting now concluded the Nationalist Party will be given 4 extra seats to enable it to have a Parliamentary majority. These seats will be awarded to the Nationalist Party runners up.
The runners up are, Jean-Pierre Farrugia, with 3,426 votes in 1st district; Edwin Vassallo, 3,301 votes in 11th district; Frans Agius, with 3,259 votes in the 2nd district and Francis Zammit-Dimech, with 3,197 votes in the 10th district.
