Replying to a parliamentary question put by Labour MP Justyne Caruana, the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, said that two divorces were recorded at the Gozo Public Registry last year, one had been obtained in Melbourne, Australia and the other in New York, USA.
The Minister added that two other divorces were recorded in 2006, one in St Petersburg, Russia and one in New York, USA, whilst three others were registered in 2005, two in Australia and one from Scotland.
Replying to another parliamentary question, also put by Labour MP Justyne Caruana, Justice and Home Affairs Minister, Dr Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici, said that in the two years starting May 28th, 2006, there had been 11 marriage annulment requests filed in the Magistrates Court in Gozo and that over the same two years the number of cases decided stood at 15.
