As per plans approved by MEPA, Xaghra cemetery is to be extended to house five hundred and sixty eight graves which will include the current one hundred and twenty two common graves owned by the Church.
Currently there are only fifty eight privately owned graves. With the extension, this number will increase by three hundred and eighty eight graves.
The extension will be at a lower level than the present one and will be accessible from the old section through a flight of stairs next to the chapel. However, access to the new section will also be available through an entrance at its front.
