By virtue of Legal Notice No 104 of 2008 published today in the Government Gazette, the Minister of Finance, Economy and Investment has approved the opening of commercial premises for business from 4.00a.m to 7.00p.m. on this coming Sunday the 16th of March and on Wednesday the 19th of March.
The above does not apply to those establishments which by virtue of LN 1 of 2006 already benefit from longer business hours on Sundays and Public Holidays. In these cases the current conditions will still apply.
Earlier this week the Chamber for Small and Medium Enterprises, the GRTU, had requested the Competitiveness Ministry to issue notices authorising shops and other retail outlets, including pharmacies, to open during normal shopping hours on Sunday and Wednesday, which is a public holiday, and also on Good Friday.
