The revised Collective Agreement between the Malta Union of Teachers and the Institute of Tourism Studies will be signed on this coming Monday, the 18th of February. Negotiations have been going on for the past year and a half and the MUT said it had to resort to Industrial Action several times due to procrastination of talks and the Ministry of Education’s veto of an agreement with had been reached between the MUT and ITS Administration during a conciliation meeting held at the office of the Director of Employment and Industrial Relations.
The MUT now wishes to thank the Chairman of ITS and augurs excellent relations between the Union and ITS. Amongst other things, this revised Collective Agreement which is backdated from 1st. January, 2007 substantially improves Academic Staff Salaries . Both sides also agreed to embark on further discussions before the start of the next scholastic year on the question of the Teaching Load of Lecturers and the possibility of reducing the maximum hours of the Lecturers Class Contact Hours
