Any interested men and women over the age of 18, and in good health, are being invited to apply to join the police and undergo their training course. Applicants must possess at least a grade C or a 5 in three 'O' level Matsec examinations. Those waiting for their 'O' level or 'A' level Matsec exams to be published can apply temporarily but they must present their certificate by the date of their interview.
Those chosen for the training course might be asked to do work practice on a shift basis under surveillance, including night duty or manual work as required. Part of the police academic training is on a residential basis.
Those candidates who reach a satisfactory level in all aspects of the initial course will be eligible to the title of constable, on a probation period of two years. They will then be assigned to corporal sections depending on the requirements of the police commissioner and will be further assessed for the following four months.
Applications may be obtained from the Human Resources section, at the police general headquarters in Floriana and should be returned by the applicants themselves by Friday the 5th of October, 2007.
Further information can be obtained from the government gazette number 18, 122 and on the website
