A 20-year-old construction worker from Munxar is in critical condition after he fell a height of one storey at a construction site in Harbour Street, Ghajnsielem, yesterday morning.
The police said preliminary investigations showed the worker was descending a ladder when he lost his balance. The man tried to hold on to some masonry which unfortunately gave way. He hit the ground with the stones falling on top of him, the police said.
The police added the worker was seriously injured and was in danger of dying.
Magistrate Tonio Micallef Trigona has opened an inquiry with the help of a team of court experts.
