Staff from the British High Commission recently swapped their pens for paint brushes and other tools, to carry out maintenance work at the Arka Foundation in Ghajnsielem. The staff painted the corridor walls on the main floor of the building along with other maintenance jobs. They also spent some of their time in the kitchen preparing lunch.
British High Commissioner, Nicholas Archer, said that they were delighted to be able to help in a small way, adding that his team did a very good job, and certainly enjoyed the experience. Mr Archer added, "but I must confess that I don't think I will be giving up my day job, this was far too much like hard work."
The Arka Foundation is a voluntary, non-profit making and non-governmental organization that promotes the welfare of people with special needs and also supports their families, irrespective of their creed or nationality.
