Over 300 delegates, representing various sectors of the local business community, attended a BOV seminar, which focused on the practical aspects relating to the euro changeover. Due to popular demand this was the second such seminar organized by BOV in less than a month.
Emphasis was placed on the importance of preparation in the area of cash management for the business community and the implications of the adoption of the new currency. Delegates were also given guidelines for the first days following the changeover, including the introduction of Euro Starter Packs and the cash requirements for the evening of the changeover, the 31st of December 2007.
The delegates were addressed by John Cassar Torreggiani - Executive Head Euro Programme, Peter James Sant - Senior Economics Officer EU Affairs, Ivo Camilleri - Head IT Systems, Joe Baldacchino - Manager Cash Centre of Bank of Valletta and Dr. Alex Wells - Manager Technical Preparations at the National Euro Changeover Committee.
