As part of the upcoming Olympic Games in Beijing, China, the Maltese Olympic Committee (MOC) will be seeking two local youth to attend the Beijing 2008 Olympic Youth Camp (OYC - August 2008). About 800 teenagers, including 50 physically challenged youth, from across the world will attend the Olympic Youth Camp (OYC) during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Disabled youths will take part in such an exercise for the first time in OYC’s history.
Every National Olympic Committee will send a girl and a boy between the ages of 16-18 years old to the camp. The MOC is looking for future leaders who are up to the challenge and wish to make a difference in the field of Sport; and will choose one male and one female to represent Malta who will be selected on the outcome of a project based competition.
The MOC has invited all post-secondary schools to participate and involve their students in this unique lifetime opportunity. Students can come up with any sport related project whether for their school, their community or for their family and friends. Entered proposals will have the chance to be short listed for actual implementation. It will be the final projects that are actually implemented that will be judged and by which judges will decide who will be Malta’s ambassador at the Beijing OYC 2008.
The deadline for submitting applications will be January, 15th 2008.
