A number of initiatives to promote Gozo are being taken by Bank of Valletta in association with the Ministry for Gozo, the Gozo Tourism Association, the Gozo Business Chamber, Gozo Channel and Gozitan local councils.
One of the first moves will be the printing of a promotional map of the island that will be distributed to visiting tourists.
A lottery to help promote business activity in Gozo is currently on, ending on September 10. All payments made by BOV Cards in Gozo will automatically give the cardholder a chance to win. A Promoting Tourism in Gozo Working Group has been set up to co-ordinate the initiatives.
BOV’s chief executive officer Tonio Despasquale is the chairman. The members are Joe Micallef, permanent secretary of the Ministry for Gozo; Victor Borg, president of the Gozo Tourism Association, Michael Caruana, president of the Gozo Business Chamber, Joe Borg, chairman of Gozo Channel, and Noel Formosa, mayor of San Lawrenz representing the local councils.
The first meeting was held yesterday at BOV’s branch in Victoria, Gozo.
