According to figures released by the Ministry for Gozo, 14,917 people and 4,043 vehicles crossed over to Gozo during Wednesday and Thursday.
11,880 people and 2,742 vehicles returned to Malta, leaving a total of around 3,000 people and 1,300 vehicles actually spending the weekend on Gozo.
It would appear from these figures that a large number of people took advantage of the greatly reduced ferry fares and made a one-day trip to Gozo to visit the ongoing Gozo 1234 festivities.
The Gozo 1234 Festival continues today with many events being staged around the villages of Gozo.
