In its reaction to the announcement of the date of the general election on the 8th of March, Alternattiva Demokratika, the Green Party, said that a coalition government is the only way to go if the Maltese electorate wants to break the current two-party deadlock and monopoly. It also echoed the Malta Labour Party, saying that it welcomed the long-awaited announcement of the date for the general elections as the continuous speculation throughout the last number of months has harmed the economy.
The Chairman of Alternattiva Demokratika, Dr Harry Vassallo said that in these general elections his party will be introducing, for the first time, the culture of a coalition government. By so doing, the prevailing political blackmail will end and people will be truly free to vote.
“In a few weeks time we will be starting a new period, not just in politics but in every aspect of life in Malta” Dr Vassallo concluded.
