Following the tragic events in the last few days Alternattiva Demokratika - The Green Party has said that it would like to express its solidarity with the Tibetan people.
AD International secretary, Mark Scerri said, “We invite all freedom loving people to denounce the communist regime in Beijing which has attempted to stifle the identity and the cultural freedom of the Tibetan nation for the past 58 years.”
“We can not but condemn the way in which the Beijing regime chose to smother the legitimate protests in Tibet. In is indeed a shame that in 2008, a cardinal principle of modern, democratic nations, the right to a free expression is still being trampled upon by one of the world’s economic giants,” continued Mr Scerri.
Mark Scerri concluded by saying that “all the democratic nations should consider stepping up actions against China in order to pressure China into respecting the rights and freedoms of the Tibetans and of all its other citizens.”
