- Malta International Airport registers a 23% passenger increase

For the second consecutive month Malta International Airport has registered an increase in passenger movements. During the month of February of this leap year an 18% increase was in fact registered. This results in an average increase of 20.5% in the first two months of 2008 when compared to the corresponding period last year.
The total passenger movements on scheduled and non-scheduled flights in February 2008 were of 155,675, an increase of 23,888 when compared to February 2007. Likewise, both the aircraft movements and cargo & mail figures registered an increase of 11.8% and 24.7% respectively.
Passenger traffic from the main UK market remained stable with an increase of 3.6%. However, MIA gained significant increases by up to 44.8% on the German market, almost 30% from the UAE and 19.8% on the Italian market.
The busiest days in February 2008 were the 23rd in terms of passengers with 7210 movements whilst on the 2nd day of the month MIA handled the highest number of aircraft in one day totalling 65.
