Industrial action by ambulance drivers at Gozo General Hospital was called off after only a few hours yesterday.
The drivers had been directed by Union Haddiema Maghqudin not to do non-urgent work, including the transfer of patients from Gozo to Malta, as from yesterday.
The dispute arose because the 16 drivers have not been paid overtime since last March, UHM health services section secretary Joe Bonello said.
The issue was resolved after the union was promised the drivers would be paid this week.
A Gozo Ministry spokesman said the industrial action only lasted a few hours and that all emergency duties were still carried out.
