A comprehensive and very interesting book on the history of Gharb has been made available for free download. The book comprises eleven chapters and many photographs and illustrations. The book is also trilingual, with Maltese, English and Italian text.
There are several villages in Gozo and Malta whose history has been narrated in various publications. Author David Apap Agius, who is the current Mayor of Gharb, writes in his introduction that he felt that the village of Gharb should also produce a similar book that describes its ancient and historical background. He has since produced such a book, which provides interesting information to those who would like to learn more about the history of Gharb. Even those who know the village quite well should find this publication of interest. Last but not least, his book is aimed at those emigrants who have left Gharb and these islands but who still enjoy reading about their homeland.
The author also said that he would like to thank all those who have contributed in any way towards the publication and printing of his book and hopes that it will enhance the reader’s appreciation of Gharb’s rich history.
The book is in two parts, the first part can be downloaded here, and the second part here or directly from the Gharb Local Council website at www.gharbnet.com. If you experience any problems downloading, please advise us via our contact page and we will email a copy to you. The two download files are in Pdf format, so you require a Pdf viewer such as Adobe Acrobat to view them correctly.
