• The 13th edition of the 36 hour Hair and Beauty marathon organised by the MCAST Institute of Community Services is going to be held on Sunday the 4th of May starting at 11.00am till Monday the 5th of May ending at 11.00pm.
• This year's beneficiaries are:
• Id-Dar tal-Providenza and Malta Hospice Movement
• The aim of the Marathon is to show the students' altruism towards people with different needs especially when considering that these young people are following courses which at a later stage will benefit the whole community. It also helps to instil in students a sense of giving some free hours on a voluntary basis.
• For the first time the Marathon is going to be held in the new block on MCAST Main Campus, Corradino Hill, Paola
• Students aspiring to become professionals in the field of hairdressing and beauty will be working under the supervision of their tutors. Professionals Beauty Therapists and Hairdressers will be giving a helping hand.
• In the past editions of the marathon around €600,000 have been raised and many associations have benefited from these funds.
• There will be other MCAST students taking part in various fund raising activities such as Basket Ball Tournament, Car Wash, Car Tests, Sales of plants, etc.
• A programme of Entertainment will be running throughout the 36 hours
• Which will be entirely televised on Education 22 and Melita Channel 30 with links with major TV stations
• People who are not able to avail themselves of the hairdressing and beauty services could ring on specific Go numbers or send an sms to give donations
• We would like to make an appeal to the general public to support the marathon because apart from helping students gain an invaluable experience, they would also be helping worthwhile causes.
