The third edition of the Don Bosco Oratory summer club was brought to an end recently with a Mass celebrated by Gozo bishop Mgr Mario Grech.
Oratory director Fr Effie Masini and around 60 helpers and animators took care of 300 children between the ages of five and 12 for the nine-week camp.
The daily programme started off with a Mass at the oratory?s chapel, and afterwards the children were involved in sports activities, drama, dancing, painting, clay modelling, crib modelling and fun games. Story telling sessions were organised for the younger children. The participants were also treated to excursions to Malta and popular Gozitan beaches.
In the last days of the programme, participants put up a drama, singing and dancing show at the oratory?s auditorium. Afterwards, a pizza party was organised for the children and their parents. The show was repeated at Xlendi Bay on the occasion of the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
In the Mass, which brought to an end the activity, Mgr Grech exhorted the children to get involved in such activities, which contribute towards their formation. He thanked the volunteers for using their summer holidays for the good of Gozitan children. After the Mass, a group photo with the bishop was taken.
