Two Maltese men were yesterday charged with a string of thefts allegedly all committed in one day at Dwerja in Gozo.
Paul Zammit, 20, from Qormi and Joseph Zammit, 39, from Swatar, were charged with stealing various items from a total of five hired cars in Gozo on 9 May.
Police inspector Antonello Grech charged the men with theft from the hired cars which were all parked at Dwejra Bay. All stolen items have been found and will be returned to their owners.
Before magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona, the men pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them. They were refused bail and were remanded in custody. They have been transferred to the Corradino Correctional Facility in Malta.
Police inspector Antonello Grech prosecuted while Dr Chris Said appeared for the defendants.
