‘Inside Out’ in Gozo - Art exhibition in Victoria

Victor Agius is re-launching in Gozo the exhibition entitled, INSIDE OUT, manifesting a collection of abstract panels. This exhibition is also part of GOZO 1234 event. The artist describes the works he is exhibiting as a new experience. The idea behind Agius's panels is to create aesthetically pleasing panels through the use of mundane things which we usually think of as rubbish. For instance he uses skins of acrylics from old palettes which are very significant since in them the artist sees his old experiences and creations being interpreted in his latest works. It is a breakthrough from his usual abstracts which are normally a play of colour. Colour is used very intently and closely to give more power to the 'objets-trouves', used to create texture and life.

Victor Agius said, ''INSIDE OUT is a breakthrough in my artistic journey. I have always been thought that art is a voyage which takes the artists to very intimate places. In these panels I am letting out what was inside me at the moment of their creation. I have experimented with various objects-trouve' including granite and marble, pebbles, sand and dry clay; and used these objects to give texture, flow and life to my panels. Colour in this collection of abstracts has been used and applied intently and closely in accordance to my mood and thoughts. Those who are familiar with my previous work will notice that these works are a new idea, an idea which I freely elaborated. Every new idea and creation in an artist's work is always a step forward because it is proof that the artist is still active and thus successful''

INSIDE OUT will be open for public viewing from the 1st of May to the 30th of June at the MAJI wine and dine, 6, Sir Adrian Dingli Street, Victoria Gozo. Opening hours Monday to Thursday are from 6.30pm onwards and from Friday to Sunday from 12.00 noon till 2.30pm and from 6.30pm onwards.
