A delegation of around 20 primary school students from the Italian village of Tolfa has ended a 5-day cultural exchange visit in Ghajnsielem. The main aim behind this visit was to share the student's experiences with each other, make new friends and learn about each other's culture. The group was led by Tolfa Mayor Dr Alessandro Battilocchio. Most of the children were accompanied by their parents.
The group arrived last Thursday morning at the Grand Hotel, Ghajnsielem, where they enjoyed a lunch organized by the Ghajnsielem Local Council. In the evening they departed to Victoria where they visited the Citadel by night, which was led by Miss Paulene Grech, Head of the Ghajnsielem Primary School,
On Friday, the the Italian delegation visited the Ghajnsielem Primary School where they joined in with the local students. Several extra curricular activities where organised for the students during an activity which was attended by several guests including, the Speaker of the House Dr Louis Galea, the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono, the Italian Ambassador to Malta H.E. Dr Paolo Andrea Trabalza and Gozo Bishop Mgr. Mario Grech.
During this event, Ghajnsielem Mayor Francis Cauchi and his Italian Counterpart Dr Alessandro Battilocchio exchanged gifts for the occasion. The Italian delegation spent the evening enjoying a pizza night and tombola.
On Saturday, the Italian delegation toured Malta where they visited Valletta and Mdina, amongst other places.
On Sunday, they participated in the 10am mass at Ghajnsielem Parish Church before they left for a short tour around Gozo.
A farewell dinner organized by the Ghajnsielem local council wrapped up the activities before the delegation returned to Italy yesterday morning.
