Next Friday the 29th of August, at Citadel Centre for Culture and Arts Victoria, a concert entitled L'Ghabex will be held to raise funds for Dar Guzeppa Debono Home and supported by Rotary Club Gozo. New works by local composers Mariella Cassar & Albert Garcia.
The concert's performances are the result of a joint collaboration between Mariella Cassar and Albert Garzia, two young composers both studying composition in the UK. The concert will feature ten pieces in all including both ensembles and solos, with a variety in style that is certain to make this a unique experience for the audience. The instruments featured in the concert are piano, two violins, viola, two cellos, clarinet, accordion, xylophone and percussion (timpani, snare drum and tubular bells), as well as the voices of a soprano and mezzo-soprano.
All performers are professional players and singers who are members of the Maltese Philharmonic orchestra. Opera singer Miriam Cauchi is a firmly established Maltese soprano, making a name for herself both in her native country and overseas. Cauchi and her husband cellist Simon Abdilla Joslin will perform a composition called L'Ghabex. This work, which was specifically written and dedicated to the couple, will be premiered during this occasion. A grand piano, tubular bells and a set of timpani are being provided specifically for the concert.
To book call 9909 9110, tickets can be collected from Bookworm Bookstore near Republic Street, Victoria.
Ticket holders are welcome to stay for the vernisagge at the end of the concert.
