The Voices Foundation would like to inform the general public that due to unforeseen circumstances, the process of post-production on the CD and DVD from the Voices Tell Me Why? concert has taken slightly longer than planned. Therefore, although we had originally announced that the CD and DVD would be available by December 2008, it will now be available and distributed in January 2009. While wanting to ensure that the product is of high standard, The Voices Foundation apologizes for this delay and any inconvenience caused to those who have purchased the pack.

Heritage Malta has just launched Hands on Deck, a learning programme for school children visiting the Malta Maritime Museum in Vittoriosa. Hands on Deck is one of the many projects that formed part of an EU Funded project which aims to explore, through history and archaeology, the structures and systems of exchange of the Mediterranean's cultural heritage pertaining to sea and land commercial transportation networks in the north and south shores of the Mediterranean Basin. The project seeks to valorize these aspects through innovative methods. The 'Hands on Deck' workbook for primary school children complements MERCATOR Educational by focusing on the Maltese Islands' merchants' history during the period of the Knights of St John. The Lifelong Learning Centre at Msida, is organizing a new course in entrepreneurship, called "The Steer 2 Success." The aim of the course is to encourage resourceful people to focus on educating themselves, to run and have their own successful businesses and careers. Another objective is to get family-run SMEs to operate more professionally. The course is made up of a two-hour session, once a week (every Tuesday). The Friends of the Sick and Elderly are organising their last car boot sale of 2008 next Sunday, the 30th of November, at the Marsalforn car park from 8am to 1pm. Everyone is invited to take along any unwanted items, bric a brac etc and turn them into cash. The charge per car is €10 payable on the day. Bookings in advance are not required, just turn up on the day, set up, and start selling. The Friends of the Sick and Elderly advise that neither hawkers nor commercial sellers are allowed.

The Office of the Commissioner for Children is inviting the public for a discussion on Work, which will focus on the recommendations made in the Manifesto for Children. The Manifesto for Children was launched earlier this year, in order to increase awareness of matters requiring urgent attention with regards to children in Malta and Gozo. The participants in this discussion will be given the opportunity to voice their opinion and concerns, and make their own recommendations in this field. The Manifesto for Children outlines various improvements to be made within the field of work. NGOs and Local Councils in Gozo are invited to an information meeting on Saturday, the 29th of November 2008, at the Ministry for Gozo Hall (St Francis Square, Victoria) organized by EUPA (the national European Union Programmes Agency) in collaboration with EU Programmes Information Unit (Gozo Ministry) and Gozo NGOs Association. After the registration at 9am, and an introduction by Mr Mauro Pace Parascandalo - National Coordinator, the programme (which should be concluded with questions at about noon) continues with half-hour overviews of the various programmes by relative programme Officers: Leonardo Da Vinci, Erasmus, Grundtvig and Youth in Action. On the occasion of World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse, this Wednesday, the 19th of November, launched by the Women's World Summit Foundation (WWSF) in 2000, the Commissioner for Children would like to reiterate her ongoing commitment "to promote the protection of children from physical or mental harm and neglect, including sexual abuse or exploitation," [Commissioner for Children Act 2003, art. 9g].
