1. A Pauline exhibition at the Basilika church of Xaghra.

2. Joseph Micallef, who for the past four years occupied the post of Permanent Secretary within the Ministry for Gozo, retired from the public service. Mr Micallef hosted staff deployed within the Ministry for Gozo to farewell drinks.

3. The arrival of two cruise liners at the port of Mgarr, the Club Med 2 and the Royal Clipper, carrying hundreds of passengers.

4. The Gozo Spirit Combat (Int.) Association organized for the third consecutive year the Gozo Martial Arts Festival, at the Gozo Sports Complex. The GSCA Martial Artist of the Year 2009 award was achieved by the young Clara Sciberras.

1. Cardinal Ennio Antonelli, His Holiness Pope Benedict’s XVI envoy, visited Gozo accompanied by Mgr. Tommaso Caputo, the Bishop of Gozo, Mgr Mario Grech, and other dignitaries. The Cardinal arrived in Gozo on a private yacht and was welcomed at Mgarr by the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono. Cardinal Antonelli visited Gozo and Malta to celebrate the closure of the Pauline Year. His Eminence first celebrated Pontifical Mass at the Collegiate Basilica of St Peter and St Paul in Nadur, on the occasion of the feast celebrated in honour of the patron saints of the village. From Nadur he travelled to Munxar where he met families from the village at Munxar Parish Church. Cardinal Antonelli is also the President of the Pontifical Council for the Family.

2. On the occasion of the solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, princes of the apostles, Bishop Mario Grech led a concelebrated pontifical mass at the Nadur basilica. After the homily, he presented the Qalb Generuza annual award to Maria-Michela Camilleri. This twelve year-old girl plays an active role in most of the events that takes place in her parish church and also offers a helping hand to more than one social group of her native village of Nadur.
