Go giving away free netbook and internet key

GO have announced thay they are giving away a free netbook and internet key with its new mobile internet tariff called Laptop Connect.

For just €35.99 a month, customers just subscribe to GO’s newest data tariff plan to get their hands on the sleek and stylish Lenovo Ideapad S10 netbook that comes with a three year warranty. GO’s newest data tariff includes a 10GB download limit and GO’s internet key which gives them fast 3G access to their email, internet, and other online applications while they are on the move.

To mark this occasion, GO and its hardware partner for this service Smart Technologies, have donated six laptops and six GO internet keys to Puttinu Cares, Children’s Cancer Support Group. The laptops and wireless internet keys will be placed in every room of the cancer ward for children at Mater Dei Hospital. This ward known as the Rainbow Ward was recently refurbished to enhance the hospital experience for children who are there for long periods in view of the nature of their illness.

Speaking about the Laptop Connect tariff on GO’s Trade Fair stand at MFCC, GO’s Chief Operations Officer Norbert Prihoda said, “We are delighted to be launching yet another great service that further underpins our ongoing drive to ensure that our customers have only the best, the most powerful and the most reliable service in the market. GO’s internet offering now includes a tariff which provides customers with a free netbook, GO’s internet key and three years warranty on the netbook.”

The Lenovo Ideapad has a 10.2″ screen, Intel Atom processors, 1GB RAM, 160GB Hard Drive and comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and webcam incorporated. Moreover the netbook includes original Windows XP Home license. The netbook is being provided by GO in association with Smart Technologies, which was set up in 2008 and operates as an equipment leasing and IT outsourcing company to serve the local business community together with well-known giants in IT circles.

Joseph Aquilina, CEO of Smart Technologies Ltd, said, “When the discussions with GO started, both of us wanted to provide a service based on the fact that no matter what technology or service solution was chosen, in line with our mission, we wanted to create the best possible package available. GO’s mission was similar, and consequently this new product was developed.”

“Laptop Connect is definitely an innovative concept which helps in the various drives to make IT more accessible and cost not an issue, without compromising any of the service that one expects from both partners,” Mr Aquilina said.

For further information on Laptop Connect and a whole lot of attractive offers spread over the communications services – mobile, tv, phone and internet – customers can drop in at the GO Trade Fair stand. GO’s stand is the first stand located at the entrance to the Trade Fair at MFCC, Ta’ Qali. Meanwhile GO and Smart Technologies teamed up to support the children’s cancer support group – Puttinu Cares. The two companies jointly responded to an appeal for six laptops equipped with wireless internet access to be used in the cancer ward for children at Mater Dei.

Through the generosity of various sponsors all the rooms that make up the Rainbow Ward are now equipped with LCD tvs, DVDs, a multi-media player as well as high tech games including playstations and Nintendo wii – and more. Thanks to the support given by GO and Smart Technologies, all six rooms boast avant-garde netbooks provided by Smart Technologies and powered by GO.

Norbert Prihoda said, “GO is indeed honoured to have the opportunity to team up with Smart Technologies and support the refurbishment of Mater Dei’s Rainbow Ward. It is our belief that such partnerships are beneficial for the local community.”

Dr Victor Calvagna, Chairperson of the Puttinu Cares thanked GO for its ongoing support and Smart Technologies for sponsoring the laptops: “Children with cancer have to stay long periods in Rainbow ward. I have no doubt that the equipment and services donated by GO and Smart Technologies together will help these children to continue their education through a difficult time whilst they undergo chemotherapy. This is possible through the generosity and kindness of both companies. I sincerely hope that other large locally-based companies will follow suit.”
