Feast of the Calling of Our Lady “Ta’ Pinu”

The programme of activities have been announced that will be taking place in the National Sanctuary of Our Lady at Gharb, commemorating the 126th Anniversary of Our Lady’s Calling to Carmela Grima and Frangisk Portelli.
The programme of events will be as follows:
Saturday 20th June:
Solemn Commemoration of the 74th Anniversary of the titular painting’s crowning.
7.00am and 8.30am: Holy Mass.
6.00pm: Recitation of the Holy Rosary.
6.30pm: Solemn Pontifical Mass presided by H.E. Mgr Nicholas J. Cauchi, Bishop Emeritus of the Gozitan Diocese.
This mass will be animated by the Radio Maria volunteers and singing will be left in the hands of the Nativitas Choir of Xaghra under the direction of Silvana Agius and organist Ivan Attard. Soon afterwards, on the Sanctuary’s parvis, the Radio Maria volunteers preside the meditation of the Holy Rosary, aux flambaux accompanied by the Nativitas Choir.
Sunday 21st June:
The eve of the feast.
Masses will be said at 6.15am, 8.30am, 10.00am and 11.15am.
5.00pm: Solemn translation of the relic and Solemn Pontifical Mass presided by H.E. Mgr Mario Grech, Diocesan Bishop, together with the Collegiate Chapter of Gharb.
The first vespers of the solemnity are sung. The Stella Maris choir animates mass under the direction of Mro. Carmel P. Grech.
Monday 22nd June:
The Feast Day – Solemn Commemoration of the 126th Anniversary of Our Lady’s Calling to Carmela Grima and Frangisk Portelli.
Masses will be said at 5.00am, 6.00am, 7.00am and 11.15am.
9.00am: Solemn Pontifical Mass presided by H.E. Mgr Mario Grech, Diocesan Bishop, together with the priests and religious people hailing from Malta and Gozo.
0.10pm: Solemn Te Deum chanting and traditional supplika to Our Lady.
2.00pm – 5.00pm: Eucharistic Adoration in silence in Our Lady’s chapel.
5.30pm: Solemn Mass in which the second vespers are sung. The Collegiate Chapter of Gharb participates.
7.00pm: Holy Rosary.
8.00pm: Solemn Pontifical Mass led by H.E. Mgr Nicholas J. Cauchi, Bishop Emeritus of Gozo. The Nativitas choir animates mass under the direction of Silvana Agius and organist Ivan Attard.
9.00pm – 10.00pm: Eucharistic Adoration in silence.
0.15am: Eucharist Benediction which closes the feast day.
On the feast day, the National Sanctuary of Our Lady “Ta’ Pinu” will be open between 4.30am and 10.30pm without interruption.
The main celebrations will be transmitted live on Radio Maria 102.3 FM and Radio RTK 103 / 97.8 FM stereo.
Everyone is invited to attend for these special and devout celebrations in honour of Our Lady at the National Sanctuary of the island.
