The events of Sette Giugno, the bread riots of 1919, were commemorated in Triq Bullara, Xaghra, under the patronage of the Minister for Gozo, Giovanna Debono.

Archpriest Carmelo Refalo celebrated Mass at the basilica of Our Lady of Victories. During the official ceremony Chev. Joe M Attard recited a poem written by Fr G Delia SJ. Miriam Christine Borg on the organ, sang the songs Wied il-Ghasel and l-Emigrant.

Trumpeteers Jason Camilleri, of Nadur and Jason Borg of Kercem, who are both members of the Armed Forces of Malta, played the Reveille and the Last Post, after which Mrs Debono, Xaghra mayor Joe Cordina, Vincent Grech, chairman of the Gozo Cultural Council and others, placed flowers against the wall of the home of Guzeppi Bajada, one of the victims of the riots.

Also present for the occasion at Xaghra, was Dr Chris Said, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Information.
