Malta’s quad-play telecoms provider GO plc recently held its eleventh Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Hilton Conference Centre. The Meeting approved the company’s Annual Report and Financial Statements for the year ended 31st December 2008, as well as the payment of the shareholders’ dividend.
The company announced at the meeting that the results show that whilst maintaining its revenue levels, the Group recorded a loss before taxation amounting to €1.3 million compared to a €27.6 million profit in 2007. This drop in profits is the result of various one time transactions including the Cable & Wireless Pensions provision and the share of the results of Greek telecoms company Forthnet. If these one time transactions are excluded, the results for the year reflect a positive operational performance when compared to the previous year.
The AGM approved the payment of a net dividend of €0.12c net of taxation per share which dividend will be payable on 20 May 2009. This net dividend will be payable to shareholders who were on the register of shareholders as at 17 April 2009.
The AGM further approved the reappointment of KPMG Certified Public Accountants as GO plc’s auditors, as well as the emoluments of the board directors.
The AGM was addressed by Chairman Sonny Portelli and Chief Executive Officer David Kay.
