During the coming weekend, the Xlendi community will be celebrating the feast of Saint Joseph which is the second titular of the church (dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel). The programme of activities will be as follows:
Between Thursday, the 30th of April and Saturday the 2nd of May: Solemn Triduum in honour of Saint Joseph, Protector of the Catholic Church. In the morning, mass will be said at 10am.
6.30pm: Recitation of the Holy Rosary.
7.00pm: Solemn Mass including a sermon on the virtues of Saint Joseph. The celebration ends with the recitation of the ‘Kurunella’ and Solemn Eucharistic Benediction.
Sunday the 3rd of May: Feast of Saint Joseph. In the morning, mass will be said at 10am.
6.00pm: Solemn Concelebrated Mass including the traditional panegyric in honour of Saint Joseph the Worker. A local choir will animate the liturgy.
7.00pm: Solemn procession with the statue of Saint Joseph venerated in the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The procession will be led by Can. Giovanni Bosco Cremona, Rector of the Xlendi community. On the church parvis, there will be the blessing of tools and workers.
When the procession returns to the church, the four-day long feast comes to an end with the singing of the hymn to Saint Joseph and the impartation of Eucharistic Benediction.
