Palm trees donation for Gozo FA Headquarters

The Department for Projects and Development within the Ministry for Gozo recently donated some palm trees for embellishing the Gozo Football Association Headquarters.
The presentation was made at tad-Dawwara Nursery in Victoria by Mr Joseph Bonello, the Principal Agriculture Officer and Head of Afforestation, Parks and Public gardens in Gozo to Mr Alvin Grech, President of the Gozo F.A. Also present was Mr Joe Bajada, General Secretary of the same Gozo F.A.
In the future the Gozo Stadium where the VIVA World Cup is to be held in June 2010, will also be embellished by a number trees and shrubs.
The Afforestation, Parks and Public Gardens Section (Agricultural Branch) within the Department for Projects and Development comprises of 3 main units, namely the Ornamental Nurseries – Dawwara (Victoria) and tal-Hlewwa (Kercem) Nurseries, the Afforestation and Rundle Gardens, and the Gozo General Hospital Gardens.
The main aim of the section is to embellish the Gozitan urban environment with a greener and more colorful landscape. Propagate endemic and indigenous species which are getting rare, while continue with the propagation of several other species used for Afforestation. Street embellishment and Landscaping. Improving the rural landscape by increasing the number trees and shrubs planted in open spaces for family recreation.
The Gozo Football Association said it would like to give special thanks to the Ministry for Gozo for this donation.
