Recently Ghajnsielem Parish Priest, Fr Frankie Bajada signed a contract for the three large bells from the set of eight which will crown the bell tower of Ghajnsielem church. The contract was signed at the Cornille-Havard foundry in Villedieu les Poelles, in Normandy, France, a city which very interestingly was founded by the Knights of Malta.
It is intended that the bell project will go on into the year 2010 when the bells are planned to be ready to be delivered to the church and into the year 2011 when they will be finally set into the bell tower.
The bells will have very particular decorations which will be a reminder of the eight beatitudes pronounced by the Lord Jesus Christ during the sermon on the mount together with invocations from the Lauretan Litany to our Lady. The designs for these decorations will be signed by artists from Ghajnsielem namely Vincent Caruana, Rudolph Cauchi and Paul Stellini.
Ghajnsielem parish thanks all the benefactors who have contributed so far to this project. At the same time it calls for more donations to be able to go further.
