Infrastructure Minister, Dr Austin Gatt, has announced this afternoon that following yesterday’s proposed changes to electricity tariffs, their would be no change in water tariffs.
The Minister said that the production costs for water have remained almost static, unlike the electricity following the recent drop in oil prices.
The Minister also reiterated that the reduced tariffs would not be backdated and that there would be no refund for bills issued since October.
He concluded by saying that although the new tariffs and the cost base still had to be confirmed by the Malta Resources Authority, Enemalta was obliged to introduce the new tariffs by April the 1st.
